Like many bands who have their beginnings at university, founder members Jon Courtney and Greg Jong formed Pure Reason Revolution while at the University of Westminster in London, mimicking the coming together of their idols Pink Floyd nearly forty years earlier. Keeping an eye loosely on their studies, they started making 'bedroom' recordings of their songs influenced by the aforementioned Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Super Furry Animals and The Beach Boys.
